On March 22, at 3 pm CET Jenni Rissanen, Scientific Secretary of the 2022 Safeguards Symposium, will be delivering presentation to spread the word about the Symposium on International Safeguards to the next generation. Please find the registration link for the event.

This Symposium organized by the IAEA on October 31-November 4, 2022 is in a special year for IAEA safeguards. It will be 60 years since its first inspection; 50 years since the entry to force of the first CSA concluded in connection with the NPT; and 25 years since the adoption of the Model Additional Protocol. In recognition of this historic moment in time, the theme for the 2022 Safeguards Symposium is ‘Reflecting on the Past and Anticipating the Future.’

One of the objectives of the Symposium is to hear from the next generation of experts and leaders, and their fresh and innovative ideas. In this regard,  CYG representatives can also participate in the Symposium.

The five main thematic areas are:
•             Evolution of safeguards to date
•             Addressing contemporary challenges
•             Anticipating and preparing for a changing landscape
•             Leveraging innovations for safeguards applications
•             Engaging people and expanding partnerships

Kindly notice that March 31 is deadline for abstracts submission. For more detail, please see the announcement: cn-303-announcement.pdf (iaea.org)

I would like to highlight that our CYG member Inna Rodina is part of the organizing team of the Symposium.

Do not hesitate to reach out to her if you have any questions.
