The webinar will be carried out as a part of the “Building Bridges” project of the CTBTO and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of Switzerland. The Building Bridges project intends to serve as a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing and idea generation of future collaboration among young leaders.

The joint webinar, “Emerging Power: Women in Nuclear Disarmament and Non-proliferation,” is co-organized by the CTBTO Youth Group (CYG) and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC), a quasi-international organization focused on Fostering leadership for the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement that is based on the values of global citizenship.

The webinar will concentrate on the connection between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – particularly SDG 5, “Gender Equality” – and nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, shedding light on the challenges as well as illuminating the opportunities. It will seek to raise awareness and offer recommendations for how increased gender equality can further the disarmament agenda. Additionally, the webinar aims to foster an intergenerational dialogue on the importance of women’s role in nuclear issues, featuring both more advanced career professionals alongside young burgeoning experts from the CYG.
