Enter the 2016 Doreen & Jim McElvany Nonproliferation Challenge and help us find innovative ways to resolve today’s most urgent challenges relating to chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological weapons.
The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) and its journal, the Nonproliferation Review, want to spur new thinking, specific recommendations, and policy initiatives in the nonproliferation and disarmament field. We’ll publish the most outstanding new ideas and proposals and award a grand prize of $10,000, as well as a $2,000 runner’s up prize.
This year’s contest is open to those enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program, or who have received their graduate or PhD degree no more than five years prior to the contest deadline.

Details:
Submissions must adhere to the Nonproliferation Review style guide, including citation style and maximum word count (10,000 words). Submissions must be sent to Acting EditorRhianna Tyson Kreger no later than 11:59 AM PST on September 9, 2016, and must include the author’s name, institutional affiliation (if any), date of receipt of most recent degree or expected graduation date, email address, and telephone number. Entries that do not conform to these rules will be returned.
Faculty, staff, and current students at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, the Middlebury Institute for International Studies, or Middlebury College are not eligible for the 2016 Challenge.
Decisions on the winner and the runner’s up prize will be announced no later than October 28, 2016.
